Learn More about Our Exceptional School
What are your school's entry points?
The main entry point to Pembridge Hall is Reception, where girls are admitted at 4 years old. However, we strongly advise prospective parents to register their child as soon after birth as possible. To ensure that birthdays are evenly distributed throughout the school year, we process applications by calendar month, dividing each month into thirds and selecting an even number of girls from each third at random. Places are allocated at the end of the month, after which names are added to our waiting list.
Girls hoping to enrol at age 7+ can attend our Assessment Day in the Spring Term. By assessing their Maths and English proficiencies, we can establish whether they are likely to adequately access and benefit from our curriculum's pace and breadth, which our Year 2 girls are accustomed to, having made significant academic progress in their three years at Pembridge Hall. Assessment Days also allow girls to familiarise themselves with our school and take part in a range of workshops with our specialist subject teachers.
Applications for girls in other years are subject to availability and require the completion of an age-appropriate assessment by prospective pupils, as well as reports from their feeder schools. Any reports or information from educational psychologists or other relevant bodies should also be supplied to assist the school with its decision.
Can I visit the school?
We warmly invite parents to learn more about our school by attending an in-person presentation by our Head, Mrs Sophie Banks, and Deputy Head, Miss Nicola Mooney. During this exclusive event, you can also meet and interact with the other members of our Senior Leadership Team, who will answer your questions and provide further information. You will then get a tour of the school to experience our facilities first-hand, followed by a meeting with our Year 6 students, who are happy to share experiences of their time at Pembridge Hall.
Can I meet the Head?
Once your child has been allocated a place at Pembridge Hall, you will be invited to visit the school and meet the Head, Mrs Sophie Banks, in person. Mrs Banks and the Deputy Head, Miss Nicola Mooney, can arrange a virtual meeting too, if this is preferable. You are also welcome to attend one of Mrs Banks's live virtual Q&A sessions for prospective parents, which are held throughout the school year.
What facilities does the school have?
Our beautiful Georgian buildings in Pembridge Square house an array of specialist rooms for conducting each curriculum subject lesson, along with facilities for extracurriculars. Both properties have form rooms and large, well-lit classrooms that serve as the ideal backdrop for learning and tuition. Students with an interest in the performing arts can develop their abilities in specifically designed creative spaces, such as the Music Room and Drama Studio. Our well-equipped Science Laboratory and Computing Suites allow girls to attain valuable technical skills, empowering them for success in a rapidly developing and interconnected world.
Despite having form rooms in different premises (Reception to Year 2 are based in 18 Pembridge Square and Years 3 to 6 in 10 Pembridge Square), students feel part of a single school community from a young age. Girls frequently move between buildings for specialist lessons, as well as making use of the stunning Princes Square Garden and Pembridge Gardens during playtimes.

What are the advantages of a girls-only education?
Single-sex schools such as ours allow students to learn in, and benefit from, a supportive environment that accounts for sex-related differences in development, including rates of maturity and ways of learning at specific stages. As a result, we allow learners to delve deeper into the curriculum at an early age than at co-ed schools. Moreover, the majority of Senior Schools in west and central London are single-sex, making girls' prep schools the practical choice for some parents.
At Pembridge Hall, we firmly believe that there is no limit to what our girls are capable of. We encourage them to speak up and ask questions, while also challenging all gender stereotypes.
Which senior schools do Pembridge girls move on to?
Over seven years at Pembridge Hall, girls are empowered to excel academically in their 11+ entry papers, allowing for a seamless transition into the next stage of their schooling. Our exceptional teachers and learning opportunities prepare girls to successfully advance to some of the leading day and boarding schools in London, the UK and beyond. We have well-established links with destination senior schools, which trust us to instil valuable personal qualities in our girls, such as resilience, independence and adaptability to change. In addition, we proactively support parents by offering all the information they need to make an informed choice when selecting the right school for their daughter.
Do you collaborate with Wetherby School?
Yes. Throughout every academic year, our girls regularly join boys from Wetherby School, which is next door at 11 Pembridge Square, in engaging extracurricular activities. Examples include Year 3 boys’ ‘Maker Market’, to which our Year 3 girls are invited, and reading sessions with our older girls and boys in younger year groups.
Many of our girls have brothers at Wetherby School, meaning shared activities have an added layer of enrichment and enjoyment. In addition, we plan on extending this programme by adding larger shared events very soon.
Which clubs do you offer and do you provide wraparound care?
Our expansive club programme is designed to enrich girls' experience at school by instilling strong personal qualities and promoting development in diverse areas. Extracurricular activities are integral to school life, and our girls enjoy access to over 70 clubs to inspire and motivate them each week. In addition, by fully engaging in these stimulating, educative projects, our students learn to cultivate key life skills, such as teamwork, leadership and confidence. For further details of our extensive offering, we invite you to explore the exciting opportunities under Extracurricular Activities.
Pembridge Hall endeavours to support busy, working parents by offering wraparound care in conjunction with our club programme. For this reason, girls have the option to attend our Early Club from 8:00am and/or after-school sessions until 5:00pm, enjoying games and various activities, and meeting other learners from across the school.
